Introduction

Introduction

iRefuge Organization (iRO) is a humanitarian not-for-profit, non-partisan organization supporting refugees, IDPs and host communities through community-led initiatives with support from donors and partners that add value to serve humanity in the world. Established in 2024 by Sudanese refugees in USA, the organization strives to strengthen core values of Sudanese refugee communities by supporting Sudanese IDPs, Refugees and host communities in the Sub-Saharan Region. It is legally registered in South Sudan and is in the process of securing registration with SRRA in Nuba Mountains of Sudan, with mandate to lead in humanitarian response and recovery. Plans are in place to register in Central African Republic.

The organization leads in humanitarian response and recovery to support WASH, Health, Education, Peacebuilding, Gender & Women Empowerment, and Protection across social cohesion among refugees, IDPs and host communities, working with agents of change to respond to emergency and recovery needs of humanity. We believe that the transformation and development of targeted communities (refugees, IDPs and hosts), particularly youth, women and children, rests in the hands of community — and we work to empower them to lead, spearhead the peace process to bring everlasting peace and maintain stability.

We believe in a society that is peaceful, stable and hunger-free, and for this reason we collaborate with partners and donors to provide food assistance, shelter / non-food items and sustainable livelihood. iRO focuses on equipping Sudanese Refugees and South Sudanese communities through training, dialogue on pertinent community issues, lobby and advocacy, and delivering quality services to transform communities through peace, forgiveness and reconciliation.

iRefuge works, partly, through volunteers and partners in the refugees’ settlements and IDP communities in Chad, Sudan (Nuba Mountains, Blue Nile and Darfur) and South Sudan (Wau, Aweil, Buru and Gorom). It has conducted refugee and IDP needs assessments and maintains updates of current refugee and IDP movements in the region.
